This Privacy Policy explains how SNAP2PLACE processes personal data in connection with its beta version.
SNAP2PLACE is designed around a simple principle: to use only the data necessary for the operation of the service and to leave users in control of their content, permissions and account.
1. Data Controller
SNAP2PLACE is published by:
Vincent Lebon — Sole trader / Artist-author
SIREN: 490 141 587
Address: 18 rue du Delta, 75009 Paris — France
Contact: contact@snap2place.com
Vincent Lebon is the data controller for the processing of personal data carried out by SNAP2PLACE under the conditions described below.
2. Data Used by SNAP2PLACE
Depending on the features used, SNAP2PLACE may process the following categories of data.
Account data
SNAP2PLACE may process information necessary to create, secure and operate the account, including:
first name;
email address provided as part of the account process;
technical identifiers required for authentication;
information required for the operation of the passkey system.
Saved inspirations are synchronised with the account so that they can be retrieved when the user signs in again.
Selected screenshots and images
SNAP2PLACE only processes screenshots or images that the user chooses to provide to the service.
Even where the operating system technically permits broader access to the photo library, SNAP2PLACE does not automatically analyse all photos stored on the phone.
Only images selected by the user are transmitted to the service in order to create an inspiration.
The selected screenshot is stored with the corresponding inspiration. The original screenshot in the phone’s photo library remains under the user’s control and is not automatically deleted by SNAP2PLACE in the V1 beta.
Information forming an inspiration
Analysis of a screenshot may result in the creation of an inspiration containing, in particular:
content or certain information extracted from the screenshot;
the name of a place;
its address;
its geographic location;
its category or other information used to identify it;
any corrections made by the user.
Some information about places may come from third-party mapping or place-search services.
Usage data
SNAP2PLACE may record certain interactions necessary for the operation, monitoring and improvement of the beta, for example:
creation of an inspiration;
successful or unsuccessful processing;
corrections;
reactivation of an inspiration (“SnapIn”);
interaction with a reactivation;
use of the “GO” action;
deletion.
Use of “GO” indicates an action within the application. It does not allow SNAP2PLACE to state that a visit or experience actually took place.
3. Access to the Photo Library
Access to the photo library is used to allow users to select the screenshots or images they wish to turn into inspirations.
SNAP2PLACE does not automatically browse or analyse the entire photo library.
The user remains in control of which content is selected and transmitted.
Permissions granted to the application can be changed in the phone settings.
4. Automated Processing and Artificial Intelligence
SNAP2PLACE uses automated processing, including content-recognition and artificial-intelligence technologies, to analyse selected screenshots and extract information useful for creating an inspiration.
These processes may be used to:
recognise information contained in a screenshot;
identify or search for a place;
structure the information forming an inspiration;
supplement certain information using place-search services.
SNAP2PLACE may in particular rely on Google technical services for certain automated analysis, place-search and mapping functions.
The results of automated processing may contain errors or inaccuracies. Users may therefore be asked to check or correct certain information.
In the V1 beta, these processes are not used to make decisions producing legal effects concerning the user.
5. Location and Reactivation of Inspirations
SNAP2PLACE uses the phone’s location in particular to reactivate an inspiration when the user is near a place they have saved.
The user’s location used for this feature is not transmitted to the SNAP2PLACE backend.
Location is used on the device for the proximity-reactivation feature.
Accordingly, SNAP2PLACE does not create a server-side history of the user’s movements as part of this V1 feature.
Location functionality, including background operation, also depends on the operating system, the permissions granted by the user and the phone’s battery-management mechanisms. A reactivation therefore cannot be guaranteed every time the user passes near a place.
Users can change or withdraw location permission in their phone settings.
6. Notifications
When notifications are enabled, SNAP2PLACE may send a notification to remind the user of a relevant inspiration, in particular when they are near the corresponding place.
Depending on the phone settings, a notification may display information relating to the inspiration on the lock screen.
Users can manage notification permissions and display settings from their device settings.
7. Usage Analytics — PostHog
As part of the beta, SNAP2PLACE uses PostHog in its European environment to understand how the application is used and improve its operation.
PostHog may process data relating to the use of SNAP2PLACE. Some of this data may be associated with the user.
This processing is activated with the user’s consent. The user may withdraw that consent.
If consent is withdrawn, SNAP2PLACE stops the relevant use and requests deletion of data explicitly linked to the user in PostHog.
8. Why Do We Use This Data?
Data is processed only for specified purposes, including:
Providing the SNAP2PLACE service: creating and managing the account, analysing selected screenshots, creating and synchronising inspirations, searching for associated places, enabling their reactivation and providing the “GO” action.
Ensuring the operation and security of the service: detecting errors, maintaining technical stability and protecting the operation of the beta.
Improving the beta: understanding, where the user has consented to the relevant processing, how SNAP2PLACE is used and identifying necessary improvements.
Communicating with Bêtasplorateurs: managing access to the beta, collecting feedback and providing communications necessary for the testing programme.
Sending SNAP2PLACE news: only where the user has voluntarily chosen to receive such communications.
9. Legal Bases
Depending on the processing concerned, SNAP2PLACE primarily relies on:
performance of the service requested by the user, for processing necessary for the operation of SNAP2PLACE and the user account;
consent, where required, including for usage analytics through PostHog and optional SNAP2PLACE news communications;
legal obligations applicable to SNAP2PLACE;
legitimate interests, where this constitutes an appropriate legal basis, including for certain operations strictly necessary for the security and management of the service, subject to users’ rights and freedoms.
Technical permissions granted at phone level and consent to the processing of personal data are not necessarily the same thing: a system permission technically enables access to a feature of the device, whereas the legal basis depends on the processing actually carried out.
10. Recipients and Technical Service Providers
Data is accessible only to the extent necessary for the operation and management of SNAP2PLACE.
SNAP2PLACE relies in particular on technical service providers that may be involved in processing certain data:
Clever Cloud, for the main hosting of the SNAP2PLACE backend in the PAR — Paris, France region;
Google, for certain technical functions that may include automated analysis, place search or mapping;
PostHog, in its European environment, for application usage analytics where enabled with the user’s consent;
technical services required for the distribution and operation of the application on iOS and Android.
These service providers receive only the information necessary for the functions in which they are involved.
11. International Data Transfers
The main SNAP2PLACE backend hosted by Clever Cloud is located in France.
However, some technical service providers used by SNAP2PLACE may process data from other countries or rely on infrastructure located outside the European Economic Area.
SNAP2PLACE therefore does not represent the V1 beta as a service in which all processing is carried out exclusively in France or the European Union.
Where required by applicable law, international data transfers must be subject to the safeguards provided for by applicable data-protection legislation.
12. Data Retention
Account data and inspirations are retained for as long as necessary for use of the account and operation of the service.
The selected screenshot is retained with the corresponding inspiration so that the user can retrieve the content from which their inspiration originated.
Data processed on the basis of consent is no longer used for the relevant purpose when consent is withdrawn, subject to the operations necessary to implement the withdrawal and delete the relevant data where required.
Certain data may be retained for longer where required by law or where retention is necessary for the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims.
13. Account and Data Deletion
Users can delete their SNAP2PLACE account.
Deleting the account results in the deletion of the personal data associated with the user. No additional deletion period is provided for in the V1 operation communicated by SNAP2PLACE.
Where data explicitly linked to the user has been transmitted to PostHog with their consent, deletion of that data is also requested from PostHog through the applicable process.
Deleting the SNAP2PLACE account does not delete original screenshots remaining in the user’s personal photo library. These remain under the user’s control.
14. Bêtasplorateurs Programme and Feedback
As part of the beta, SNAP2PLACE may collect contact details provided during pre-registration and information voluntarily submitted as part of user feedback.
This data is used to:
manage pre-registration and access to the beta;
communicate information relating to the Bêtasplorateurs programme;
collect bug reports, impressions, questions, ideas or suggestions;
improve SNAP2PLACE.
Where a user voluntarily attaches a screenshot to feedback, it is used to understand and process the report.
Participation in the beta programme does not automatically subscribe the user to commercial communications. SNAP2PLACE news communications are subject to a separate choice where offered.
15. Data That May Concern Third Parties
A screenshot selected by a user may accidentally contain information relating to other people or content originating from third-party services.
Users are encouraged to transmit only content necessary for their use of SNAP2PLACE and, where possible, to avoid importing unnecessary personal information relating to other people.
SNAP2PLACE does not use such incidental information to deliberately create profiles concerning those third parties.
16. Security
SNAP2PLACE implements appropriate technical and organisational measures designed to protect personal data against unauthorised access, loss, alteration or disclosure.
As no computer system can guarantee absolute security, these measures are adapted to the operation of the service and the risks identified.
17. Your Rights
In accordance with applicable data-protection law, users may, subject to the conditions provided by law, exercise in particular their rights:
of access;
to rectification;
to erasure;
to restriction of processing;
to object;
to data portability where applicable;
to withdraw consent at any time for processing based on consent.
Withdrawal of consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before consent was withdrawn.
To exercise these rights, users may contact SNAP2PLACE using the address provided in this Privacy Policy.
Users also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Commission nationale de l’informatique et des libertés (CNIL), the French data-protection authority.
18. Underage Users
The SNAP2PLACE beta does not include a declarative mechanism asking users to confirm their age during registration.
SNAP2PLACE does not seek to collect more age-related information than is necessary for the operation of the beta.
The conditions governing access to and use of the service are set out in the Terms of Use.
19. Changes to this Policy
This Privacy Policy reflects the operation of the SNAP2PLACE V1 beta as at 24 September 2026.
It may be updated if the service features, data processing activities, service providers or applicable legal framework change.
Where necessary, users will be appropriately informed of changes that significantly affect the processing of their personal data.
